Tracking down Mr. Herman L. Wade, the leadoff of Morgan State College’s The Flying Four, felt like unearthing a treasure chest. Conversations unfolded, stories were shared, and I stood face-to-face with a track star of yesteryears. The whistle of legendary coach Eddie P. Hurt echoed in our discussions, and Mr. Wade’s biography, “Run From There,” became a nostalgic gift, signed with gratitude.
Leaping with Legends: Edwin Moses
Enter the realm of greatness with the mention of Edwin Moses, the hurdling virtuoso, and a two-time Olympic gold medalist. Little did I know that I’d be reaching out to him for the Foreword of my book, guided by the wise counsel of Mr. Douglas. Edwin, the man who clinched 107 consecutive finals and set world records, graced my endeavor with his signature during the dedication of his new track and field facility named after him at Atlanta’s Morehouse College, August 2022. From that moment, a friendship was forged, proving that sometimes, the heroes of history books become the allies of today.
